Customs Statistics: China-Australia textile and apparel trade grows steadily

The statistics released by China Customs recently showed that in the first three quarters of this year, the trade volume of textiles and apparel products between China and Australia exceeded 3.4 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 23.4%. Among them, China's exports to Australia reached 3.39 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year increase of 23.5%. China’s imports from Australia reached US$12 million, which was the same as last year. It is predicted that the trade volume of textiles and clothing between the two countries will reach 4.5 billion U.S. dollars this year.

According to the statistics of the China Textile Import & Export Chamber of Commerce, in recent years, the textile and apparel trade between China and Australia has grown rapidly. In the past 10 years, bilateral trade volume has rapidly risen from less than US$1.15 billion in 2001 to 3.79 billion US dollars in 2010, an increase of 2.3 times, and an average annual growth of 12.7%.

At present, Australia is China's tenth largest trading partner of textiles and garments, and China’s ninth largest export market. Textiles and clothing account for 4% of bilateral trade between the two countries.
