According to German magazine reports, BMW is considering the production of a four-door coupe model against the Mercedes-Benz CLS coupe. This new car is likely to be the identity of the 8 Series, 850i will be the first model of this series.

In the 1990s, BMW had produced the 850Ci model equipped with a 326 horsepower V12 engine. At present, there may be three options for powering the new 8 Series. One is to transplant the 760i V12 engine, and the Other may use the M Series V10 engine or the V8 engine. According to the German magazine, the new 850i is most likely to be equipped with the V8 powertrain used on the 550i and 650i.
