Toyoya: The Monkey King was supposed to be the first heroic idol when I was a child. A set of comic books for Journey to the West was turned to rotten. As long as the cartoons or TV dramas related to the Monkey King were broadcast on TV, they should be kept no matter how late. Look around the TV. I remember one year in the Spring Festival New Year's Eve to replay the TV drama "Journey to the West", I waited until midnight, but ... ... did not broadcast that night, crying heart has.

Can you talk about the idea of ​​this work for the exhibition?

The animated film "Havoc in Heaven" is a work full of rich content and wonderful details. When I started to create this group of works, I took a long time for consideration. In the end, the two parts of “born out” and “inverted” were chosen. The inspiration came from the surpassing of Sun Wukong's flames in the alchemy furnace of Lao Shang Laojun and the plots of the gods fighting against the gods.

I think these two stories embody the transformation of Sun Wukong and the rebellious character that runs through it. These are also the loveliest places on Monkey King.

Are there any special meanings for the little monster in the game?

The prototypes of the monsters in the game are the demon and heavenly warriors in Da Lou Tian Gong, as well as the little fools jumping around in real life.

For you, where is the charm of 8-bit or pixel art?

The initial contact with 8-bit is, for me, another world. It is electronic, digital composition, virtual space. In the creative process, works that are reconstructed with pixels are very symbolic.
